FALLING LEAVES 2022, week 1. It begins.
Let's start with the usual view of the pond from the deck. From there it still looks pretty 'summery' -- no obvious leaf loss and no color changes
But looking the other way (west) from the front of the house, my bellwether tree (lower left) from last week is redder than ever and already losing leaves. The hardwoods towering above are also losing leaves and those remaining are turning yellow already.
Back to the view from the deck. Looking roughly north toward the fire pit is another view of summer. We're seeing more leaves on the ground, but for the most part the trees are still green and full.
To the south, however, the guard is changing. Here's a view looking south. Mostly green still, but the leaves are changing.
A landscape view, again looking north, showing that our new lawn is beginning to take shape. Hopefully the grass will continue to thicken even with the cold weather approaching.
And finally, a view from the pond taken from the dock. The leaves are still full but beginning to show clear signs of yellowing. Leaf fall should begin soon
Until next week. In the meantime here is week one from 2020 and 2021.
