Choose your poison. For me, what I'd like to see is a side-by-side comparison: in this column are the tariffs the U.S. imposes on China; in this column are the tariffs China imposes on the U.S. Similarly, for Mexico, Canada, Great Britian, Germany, France, and so on.
I can understand some tariffs (on all sides) for national security purposes. Every country needs to have the internal resources and manufacturing capacity to defend itself, so some tariffs may be required for the country to maintain those resources and manufacturing capacity. But some is the operative word.
