OBAMACARE: “[A] guy with high cholesterol who still smokes is ill-suited to play national Health Nanny.”
WASHINGTON IS WORKING JUST FINE. It's us that's broken.

But if – as Evan Thomas suggests – Washington “precisely represent the people,” then how can Washington be “just fine” while we,the people, are “broken?”

Something doesn’t add up.
FUEL TAXES MUST RISE: “To meet the Obama administration’s targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions, [Harvard] researchers say Americans may have to experience a sobering reality: gas at $7 a gallon.”

From the comments: “Gas might as well be $7.00 a gallon, thanks to Barry-O. I ain't got no job anyways, nor car too. That's what I get for voting for him!”
TOYOTA DEMYSTIFIED: “Personally, I’d like to see some Congressmen forced to testify before a panel of car dealers, about the budget deficit’s Sudden Acceleration Problem.”
WE ARE TOLD THAT WE NEED “a government-controlled medical care system, because other countries have it -- as if our policies on something as serious as medical care should be based on the principle of monkey see, monkey do.”
“ELF ‘N’ SAFETY, MATE”.

“We have the right for health and safety to pass reasonable laws dealing with the protection and health of the people of the city of Chicago.”
Mark Steyn has more on government-sponsored stupidity.
GREEN JOBS KILL.

In Australia, the Labor government, eager to flaunt its green credentials, instituted a nationwide environmentally friendly roof-insulation program using energy-efficient foil insulation. It certainly reduces the carbon footprint of many Aussies’ homes: At the time of writing, 172 of them have burned down. It reduces your personal carbon footprint, too: Four installers of the foil have been fatally electrocuted.
Reducing our carbon footprint one life at a time.
IN AN EARLIER POST (follow the link) I took note of the fact that the president had a virtual colonoscopy, not typically paid for by most health insurance plans.

Now we know why.
LIBERTARIANS ARE DANGEROUS: “They are going to take over the government and leave everyone alone.”

THE TEA PARTY IS A DYNAMIC FORCE, but it is still unruly and incoherent.

Hmm. The UK held its own tea party on Feb. 27.

I’d suggest the Guardian editorialist look in his own back yard before opining on U.S. politics.
I DON’T THINK we’ll have to worry about John Edwards running for President any more.
THEY’D BE EVEN BETTER without that stupid “green police” ad.

Probably so. Audi once was on my short list. No more.
THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW requiring ousted politicians to return to their home states for a period of not less than one term of office.
IT'S WAR. One man's response to President Obama call to pass the healthcare bill through reconciliation.
When the alleged leader of a democratic republic places his own wishes so above those of the complete body politic, he is no longer worthy of the title, leader, no matter what office he might occupy.

Only a fool with no clear appreciation of, or for, America past and present, would dare undertake what this pustule in the White House is attempting to do. It is contingent upon the Republican Party to undertake every step, every maneuver it can to bring this government to a halt.
Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats - H. L. Mencken. That time has come.
