My experience with unions (private sector, mostly) is that they tend to coalesce their membership around a rather low bar of mediocrity. That said, though, they were critical (pre-OSHA) in improving workplace safety. Today, however, I think society is better off without them - especially in the public sector.

I feel much better now. I had been under the impression he hadn't been doing anything.
