A PROFESSOR AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE tweeted that this upcoming semester he will be 'ungrading' and 'unteaching.'

Satire? I'm not convinced.

RANDOM THOUGHT about January 6th and our gentry ruling class: Rioting with our approval is 'mostly peaceful protest'; rioting without our approval is 'INSURRECTION1!.
SOME THOUGHTS ON THE CORONAVIRUS 'PANICDEMIC'. Here are four charts taken from the data I've been maintaining since the start of the coronavirus panicdemic (that spelling is on purpose) in May of 2019. These charts are strictly from the Biden administration -- January 21, 2021 through January 6, 2022 -- and not the entire data set.

On January 21, 2021 there were a total of 25,171,717 confirmed cases and 419,603 confirmed deaths, for a cumulative death rate of 1.67% since I started maintaining daily data on May 14, 2019. Starting from that point, here's the data through January 6th of this year. The first two charts are cumulative.
Confirmed cases (infections) and deaths both show a basically linear rise (red dashed lines) over time; about 97,000 cases and 1,200 deaths daily.

Until the omicron variant popped up, roughly in early to mid-December.

At that point confirmed cases rose sharply -- and are still rising at this posting -- at a rate of roughly 320,000 cases/day (up 230%), but the death rate has increased only modestly to about 1,400/day (up 16%).
The number of daily deaths has varied wildly (this data has been smoothed) over the course of the coronavirus pandemic, but has been remarkably consistent as a percentage of cases as shown in the chart below.
The blue line is the cumulative percentage, computed daily as the cumulative deaths/cumulative cases. It's been consistently in the 1.6%-1.7% range, and is just now beginning to drop as the omicron strain becomes dominant.

Red dots are the daily death data points, and the green dots are the 7-day smoothed data from the chart above.

My thoughts, for what they're worth, in no particular order:
The 'COVIDiot Panicdemic' was brought to you to maintain its power and control by the mostly Democrat deep state in accordance with Rahm Emmanuel's "never let a crisis go to waste" philosophy. That's not a conspiracy theory, just an observation about the greed and inflated sense of superiority (hubris) of America's gentry class.

It is likely that of the 800-thousand plus deaths over the last nearly three years, half or more were with COVID, not of COVID. Here's some recent anecdotal evidence.

COVID has primarily been a killer of the aged and infirm. If I'm reading the data correctly, almost 90% of the deaths were of people over age 50; 65% over age 65.
According to Stastica about 16.6% (55 million) Americans are over 65; they 'contributed' 64% (about 550,000) deaths to the COVID count. The other 83.4% (275 million) Americans only 'contributed' 310,000 (0.113%) deaths.

Given the last chart on percentage of fatalities, the COVIDiot Panicdemic' is over. Even with skyrocketing infections with the omicron varient, fatalities are down, way down, in every demographic, nearing 0.2% in January. COVID has become a mild seasonal endemic to be treated as we have colds, flu, etc. in the past.
I've been tracking the 'panicdemic' almost daily for nearly three years now. Lockdowns didn't work, masking didn't work, and now vaccines aren't working. Mandates from above didn't, don't, and won't work. Theraputics, frowned on and uniformly dissed by our gentry ruling class, do work.

It's time to tell them -- gently if possible, ungently if not -- to shut up, go away and get back to normal life.

And now back to regularly unscheduled blogging....
