MASSACHUSETTS SHERIFF: Arrest city officials who harbor and conceal illegal aliens.

Yes! Yes, and yes. My only improvement would be to strike the word 'city' from the lede.
WHO CARES, AS LONG AS HE'S NOT HERE: Where in the world in Barack Obama?
STUCK ON STUPID: Men must halt; women must walk. And women in pants must ... ???

A POINT DIFFICULT TO ARGUE:
A little girl was leaning into a lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, all under the eyes of her screaming parents

A biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event.

The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, "Sir, this was the most gallant and bravest thing I've seen a man do in my whole life."

The Harley rider replies, "Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right."

The reporter says, "Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page. So, what do you do for a living, and what political affiliation do you have?"

The biker replies "I'm a U.S. Marine, a Republican and I voted for Trump".

The journalist leaves. The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:

"U.S. Marine assaults African immigrant and steals his lunch"
Truer words were never written. From my email.
WORRIED LIBERALS would like to redraw the order of presidential succession. They're losing power; they know it; and they're going bat-shit crazy (not that it was a big leap from just plain crazy).
A CRACK IN THE WALL: Joe Manchin reportedly will defy Democrat filibuster and vote for cloture on Neil Gorsuch's nomination to the Supreme Court.

Even though I like Joe Manchin - and there are other cracks in the filibuster wall - I hope the filibuster succeeds so that McConnell can nuke it before the next Supreme Court nomination.
NIKKI HALEY TO THE UN: ‘The days of Israel bashing are over’. High heels, used properly, can hurt. (It's a trivial exercise in mathematics to prove that a 120-pound woman in heels can do more damage to a floor than a 12,000 pound elephant.)
AT MSNBC: Barack Obama's press secretary just landed a brand new job.

Even Obama flunkies have to eat....

PUT ME IN CHARGE . . .
Put me in charge of food stamps. No cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. Then we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If you want to use drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22-inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the "common good.

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self-esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self-esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND while you are on Government subsistence, you no longer can vote! Yes, that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov't welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.
From my email. I particularly like the last paragraph - on government subsistence, you can't vote. I'd like to see it extended to government employees at all levels: if you're a full-time federal employee, you can't vote in federal elections; if you're a full-time state employee, you can't vote in state elections; if you're a full-time city/county employee, you can't vote in city/county elections; etc.

POWERLINE'S Week in Pictures has posted. My favorite, by far:

And, of course, go and see the rest.

THE FIVE DUMBEST QUESTIONS put to Neil Gorsuch. No surprise; all were posed by Dumbocrats Democrats. Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) topped the list with two.
BLUEXIT: A modest proposal for separating blue states from red.

I look forward to 'Bluexit' - it will make the collapse of Blue America that much faster as they run out of money to pay for the free stuff that their base demands.

WHY OBAMACARE MUST BE REPLACED: One family's ObamaCare tale.

Which is why I want ObamaCare axed. Health care is my responsibility, and how I choose to achieve it should be mine as well.
SPEAKING TOO SOON: Why Trump’s ‘wiretapping’ tweets were a mistake.

Sorry, Jonah, but I disagree. It's time for our political class to stop talking among themselves and start talking to us - as President Trump does with his tweeting.
YES. YES HE DID: Did Obama spy on Trump?

We're only beginning to plumb the depths of the Obama administration's depravity.
IT'S LOOKING MORE LIKELY that Republicans may be inclined to use the Parliamentarian dodge to repeal ObamaCare in toto.

More here.
A RIGHT TO REPAIR: Why Nebraska farmers are taking on John Deere.

Which also explains why I am increasingly reluctant to buy anything whose basic functionality can only be repaired by an 'authorized dealer'.
HERE'S A QUESTION I'VE BEEN ASKING: Where's the Democrats' plan to fix ObamaCare?
IMPRIMIS: Thinking about Vladimir Putin.

President Trump is - and has been - correct: no matter what you think of Vladimir Putin as a person, any rational person must recognize that the man is a leader. To believe or speak otherwise is mere political posturing - virtue signaling.

Read it all. Then read it again.
SUPREME COURT: Transgender bathrooms are not a federal (constitutional) responsibility.
'ADULTING' SCHOOL teaches young adults grown-up skills. I blame the education monopoly (primarily K-12) for focusing more and more on 'social justice' and less and less on actual knowlege.

I noticed it (a little) with my own children, but luckily they graduated before social justice warfare became de rigueur.
SEARCHING FOR A BRONZE DEMOCRAT:
A tourist walked into a Chinese curio shop in San Francisco. While looking around at the exotic merchandise, he noticed a very lifelike, life-sized, bronze statue of a rat. It had no price tag, but was so incredibly striking the tourist decided he must have it. He took it to the old shop owner and asked, "How much for the bronze rat?"

"Ahhh, you have chosen wisely! It is $12 for the rat and $100 for the story," said the wise old man.

The tourist quickly pulled out twelve dollars. "I'll just take the rat, you can keep the story".

As he walked down the street carrying his bronze rat, the tourist noticed that a few real rats had crawled out of the alleys and sewers and had begun following him down the street. This was a bit disconcerting so he began walking faster.

A couple blocks later he looked behind him and saw to his horror the herd of rats behind him had grown to hundreds, and they began squealing. Sweating now, the tourist began to trot toward San Francisco Bay.

Again, after a couple blocks, he looked around only to discover that the rats now numbered in the millions, and were squealing and coming toward him faster and faster. Terrified, he ran to the edge of the Bay and threw the bronze rat as far as he could into the Bay.

Amazingly, the millions of rats all jumped into the Bay after the bronze rat and were all drowned.

The man walked back to the curio shop in Chinatown.

"Ahhh," said the owner, "You come back for story?"

"No sir," said the man, "I came back to see if you have a bronze Democrat."

AMMO GRRRLL has some advice for experts: "Shut up."
THE TREE OF EXPERTISE hasn’t been doing well lately.
“With psychology papers replicating less than 40%, dietary advice reversing after 30 years of fatphobia, macroeconomic analysis working worse than astrology, the appointment of Bernanke who was less than clueless of the risks, and pharmaceutical trials replicating at best only 1/3 of the time, people are perfectly entitled to rely on their own ancestral instinct and listen to their grandmothers."
When I was a child, experts had experience; now they have 'education'.

OBAMA’S WIRETAPS? With his record of promiscuous spying and politicized bureaucracy, it’s entirely believable that he was spying on Trump.
DAMNED FOOLS: Second travel ban halted.

President Trump should make it absolutely clear that if any terrorist comes to the United States during the duration of either of Trump's travel bans from any of the named countries and commits a terrorist act, he will immediately indict and prosecute all parties contributing to the restraining orders as accessories to the crime.

Being a damn fool shouldn't be a crime, but being a malicious damn fool should.

Good riddance.

THERE WILL BE NO SECOND HALF:

Taken from the comments at this post.
AMMO GRRRLL on 'doing without'.
IF TRUMP GOES TO WAR against the press, who wins? Both actually, assuming that the press learns its lesson about fair, factual, objective reporting. I have my doubts about the latter.
POWER OUTAGE: Another Obama-funded taxpayer-funded energy company goes bankrupt.
'DAY WITHOUT WOMEN' STRIKERS offered cutesy excuses to give their bosses. Just don't try it if you're not a feminist.

NANCY PELOSI INVITES ANOTHER LIGHTNING STRIKE, Zeus too busy laughing to deliver. If it weren't for double standards, .....
“IT IS EMBARRASSING that even left-wing UK newspapers are better than any US newspaper regarding coverage of US politics.”

I've noticed it myself, even posting about it myself last year. In general, I find the UK's Guardian and Daily Mail (when they're not engaging in sensationalism) to have the most fact-based coverage of U.S.-related topics.
ANOTHER GOOD GUY WITH A GUN: Video shows Ohio food mart clerk shooting would-be robber.
MEMBERS OF CONGRESS issue a warning to Trump about deleting his tweets. I don't think they need worry - he's probably printing them, framing them, and mounting them on his trophy wall.
THEY DON'T HAVE DOCTORS IN MEXICO? ICE raids keeping kids from receiving medical care.
EXTREME VETTING:

So why aren't the Democrats happy?

DON'T SWEAT THE BIG STUFF; it's virtue-signaling that really matters.
A LESSON FOR LIBERALS: How Intelligence Works. Obama made a hash of our intelligence services over the last 8 years; the question is whether or not Trump & Pence are enough Reagan-like to restore it over the next 4 to 8 years.

THE ZOMBIE VOTE IS BEING SUPPRESSED: 36,635 dead lose their right to vote in West Virginia. Apparently the Americans with Disabilities Act [ADA] doesn't apply to the 'living challenged'.
AMMO GRRRLL on Hollyweird's Crazy Christians.
ONLY GOVERNMENTS should be allowed to 'drop' rocks.

Kudos to Ms. Wu for acknowledging The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, but she really should have read it. If she had, she might recognize that (a) you don't 'drop rocks' from the moon (except perhaps on her own foot), and that (b) governments, not corporations, are the worst offenders in terms of 'dropping rocks'.
SPRING IS SPRINGING: This is the first (from Georgia) in my annual spring flowering marathon.

The view is from outside my 'office' window, looking down toward the property association pond. No buds in sight yet, but the trees along the east side of the house are just beginning to blossom, so these won't be too far behind. Look for the pond and hill beyond it to slowly disappear.

MAPPING WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE: the most accurate map of dark matter ever created.

It's really quite simple: what you can't see is where what you can see isn't.
A MOST DISHONEST TWEET: Sayeth Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) on Twitter:
I’ve been on the Armed Services Com for 10 years. No call or meeting w/ Russian ambassador. Ever. Ambassadors call members of Foreign Rel Com.
When caught, McCaskill claimed that there was insufficient room in the 140-character limit to add 'one-on-one' (1-1) before the word 'call' in the tweet. Except that the tweet itself is 142 characters (count 'em).
WHAT A DIFFERENCE AN ELECTION MAKES: Donald Trump declared to the world that he was president of the United States; Barack Obama spent eight years pretending to be president of the world.
SCRAP THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS; the American arts scene will still thrive.
ANOTHER STORY about those 'peaceful' Dakota Access Pipeline protestors. The 'free lunch' crowd - dirty, demanding, and violent....
BRIAN WILLIAMS blames the ‘American people’ for not demanding that Trump release his tax returns. Did it ever occur to him that the 'American people' don't care about Trump's tax returns?
U.S. SENATOR colludes with Russians to influence presidential election. It was a Democrat.

GLENN REYNOLDS: Higher education's prejudice problem. Usually we hear the terms 'progressive', 'liberal', 'politically correct' or 'biased', but Reynolds is correct: it is prejudice - prejudice bordering on hatred.
