CALIFORNIA POWER OUTAGES — A look into the future.
For decades California 'environmentalists' (quotes added because they are environmentalists by self-proclamation only) have demanded that their forests remain 'natural'. To protect all its little forest critters. No clearing of undergrowth. No removal of dead trees. No fire breaks. No sustainable forest maintenance.
For decades, California progressives have imported electricity from (and exported pollution to) other states by decommissioning their nuclear power plants and refusing to build local generation capability near the cities and towns consuming that power.
Instead they built high voltage transmission lines through unmanaged forests to move gigawatts of power from far away through tinder dry forested lands to keep those ugly power generation plants out of sight, out of mind. So now they have wildfires raging throughout that state destroying towns, homes, humans, habitat, and all those furry forest critters they were so determined to protect....
I have exactly zero sympathy for the state. The wildfires and 'de-energization' (i.e., blackouts) are of their own making and California can damned well pay for its recovery itself.
