EMMETT TYRRELL: Obama is casting his net for the moron vote. It's conceivable there are enough to re-elect him.
THE WASHINGTON POST'S EZRA KLEIN INTERVIEWS Chris Van Hollen (D) and Paul Ryan (R) on their respective programs for Medicare/Medicaid. It's clear that the Democrat plan is government-centric; the Republican plan is patient-centric. For that point alone, I strongly favor the Republican plan.
That said, however, even the Republican plan disappoints because even it limits the choice of health insurance options from which I can select.

ROB PORTMAN: The Regulatory Cliff Is Nearly as Steep as the Fiscal One. Nearly as steep? I'd suggest it's far steeper.
RIGHT IDEA, wrong solution. The answer isn't to throw more tax money into basic research; it's to remove the government disincentives from private enterprise investing in basic research.
EDJUMAKATION has come to this. Explain to my why we should continue to throw tax money at K-12 public education when this kind of crap is the result.
HEH: Will this take the edge off the Obama campaign's calls for Romney to release more tax returns?

JOINT CHIEFS CHAIRMAN GEN. MARTIN DEMPSEY: Military Must Be 'Apolitical'.
Hmm. The Obama admiistration apparently agrees with Gen. Dempsey that the active military must be 'apolitical'; since 2008, it has done an excellent job of discouraging military voters.
Irrespective of whether or not the active military should be apolitical, Gen. Dempsey misses an essential point: the members of the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund are all ex-military. To say they can't speak out based in part on specialized knowledge they acquired while in the military is absurd.
