DROP THAT PLATE! Bureaucracy steps in just in time to prevent an act of private charity, which progressives believe must be the exclusive province of government.

SIDELINED IN CONGRESS, liberal groups send Obama 'to-do' lists. Actually, they are 'to lose' lists....

SKYLINE DRIVE LEAF TOUR: We took a drive last week along Skyline Drive through the northern part of the Shenandoah National Forest. It was too late for the best of the seasonal colors, and a bit misty and foggy, but here are some pictures.

Two views of the Shenandoah River on the west side of the National Forest as we began our return to home:
And finally, a last good-bye.

EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY makes final preparations to land spacecraft on a comet.
The launch of a small lander from ESA’s Rosetta space probe marks one of the key moments in the decade-long mission to examine comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.Tomorrow, about 10:30 a.m. Eastern time.
ESA scientists said Friday that a series of orbital manoeuvrs and calculations for the touchdown will take place over the coming days before the lander, dubbed Philae, is released at 0835 GMT (3:35 a.m. EST) Wednesday.
If all goes according to plan, the 100-kilogram (220-pound) lander will latch onto the comet’s icy surface seven hours later.
