The author of the post has it right: the liberal/progressive response to nearly every problem - and nonproblem - is to punish the innocent for the sins of the guilty, something I've been complaining about since (at least) the late 1970's.

And she's also right; it's counterproductive, both pissing off the innocent and increasing tension as they walk away from those who created the problem in the first place.
