ENLIGHTENING ISLAM: Is it even possible?

Looking at the developments in each culture since the 14th century, I come to the conclusion that Islam is still waiting for its Martin Luther.

That italicized part is exactly the question I brought in a pre-deployment briefing way back in 2006. Which proves nothing beyond the simple fact that common sense and rational thought are at least 20 years ahead of the ken of of our ruling/intellectual classes.
