BREAKING THE DEPRESSION CIRCUIT: Next-generation brain implants offer new hope.
It's an interesting -- and somewhat detailed -- discussion of using electronic implants do disrupt brain activity causing depressive episodes. The most interesting part is that of trying to identify brain activity that precedes the depression. If that electrical activity can be accurately identified and suppressed, then depression no no longer exists.
Which is good, but it leads to a worrisome thought: who decides which psychological symptom is worth treating?
