FIRST YOU NEED A BRAIN: Can brain stimulation break addiction?

It seems to me that this is a case of putting the cart before the horse. Without some reasonable expectation that the brain itself is the origin of addictive impulses, this strikes me as nothing more than high-tech aversion therapy.
