AND IF YOU DON'T VOTE, WE'LL DO IT FOR YOU. California proposes mandatory voting.

As usual, California has it completely wrong. Voting should be discretionary and it should be hard to vote.

As a voter, you should be required to show up, in person, with a valid picture ID, proof of citizenship, and proof of residency in your voting district in order to register.

Voting should be in person, at a designated voting location, within a designated time period, with picture identification, proof of prior registration, and using a paper ballot. Absentee voting should be permitted only with prior proof that the voter cannot be at the designated polling location within the designated time period.

In simpler language, voting is an act that should properly be restricted to those who take their citizenship responsibilities seriously.
