CALIFORNIA IS NUTS (a continuing series): I bought another bat box (home for brown bats) to put up outside near our fire pit/patio for the little critters to stay when they aren't out eating prodigious numbers of mosquitos, gnats, and other flying nuisances.

On the cardboard box it came in was this label:

which is the Proposition 65 warning label telling me that I was holding something known to the state of Fruits, Nuts, & Flakes California to cause cancer or reproductive harm. Inside the cardboard box was a wooden box (the bat box) held together with wire staples. Nothing else.

So, a question for the state of Insanity, er, California: which is it? The cardboard? The wood? The wire staples? Or the printed sheet of paper with mounting instructions, in 3 languages? There was nothing else there - no glue, no plastic, no unknown white powder....
