MASS SHOOTINGS: What changed? I'm a bit older than Mr. Lehman, since I graduated high school in the early 60's, and short a few minor details, he's right on both history and culture.
The take-away, for me at least, is that the current gun control contremps isn't about guns; it's about the collision of two cultures. One is a victim-oriented culture of no personal responsibility where fault is replaced by circumstance, consequence shifted to society, and reparations required for any loss, perceived or real. The other is a responsibility-oriented culture where actions have consequences, consequences are personal, and 'reparations' are for damaged goods, not damaged feelings,
The former pushes gun control; the latter, gun responsibility.
