APPOMATTOX: Today marks the sesquicentennial of a most remarkable and pivotal event in American history: Lee's surrender to Grant at Appomattox Court House, Virginia.
It is a demarcation point in the American timeline. Before April 9, 1865, America was a country that had slaves. After that date, it did not.

This 150th anniversary comes, however, with little fanfare, which is odd considering we now have our first black president. There should be joy. There should be celebration. Instead President Obama pays no attention to the sacrifices that made his presidency possible because he cannot use the event to divide the American people along the color line, Indeed, Appomattox undermines his narrative of inherent white bigotry for in the Civil War, as Jesus died to make men holy, white men died to make men free.

That is a truth Obama and the Left do not wish to acknowledge.
