FALL FOLIAGE 2014: Week One. The acorns started falling about a week ago, so here is the first of my weekly photos as the foliage changes at our house.

Since we've had what everyone seems to think was a cooler-than-normal summer, the common thought is that we're due for a colder -- and earlier -- winter. But looking back, I notice this year's first photo is only a week earlier than the one last year.

I guess the trees aren't watching the Weather Channel.
