OBAMA'S NOT INFALLIBLE, but he doesn't want to hear that. I recall reading somewhere many years ago that strong leaders tend to surround themselves with strong subordinates who can - and often do - challenge them when necessary to do so. Conversely, weak leaders tend to surround themselves with weaker subordinates whom they can dominate.

Obama's clearly a 'weak leader', which is why I'm looking for a Republican challenger of the 'strong' variety. Herman Cain is beginning to look like a first-rate challenger, for the simple reason that during the debates he struck me as one who knows what he doesn't know and is willing to put in place strong subordinates who will step up to the plate when he's wrong.

I'm going to keep watching him.
