A SAFE SPACE FOR DEMOCRATS? Anti-Trump hotel for liberals coming to D.C.
FORGET HOMICIDES: Chicago to focus on the menace of crosswalk texters.
BEARING ARMS: "[N]ever let a gun control advocate say that they, as a group, don’t want all the guns. Of course they do, and the Boston Globe pretty much admitted it."
WHY INCOMPETENT PEOPLE THINK THEY'RE AMAZING:

Remember this incompetent?
I think that I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters. I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m gonna think I’m a better political director than my political director.
I do.
GUN CONTROL and liberals' magical thinking.
DNC CHAIR TOM PEREZ AND SENATE DEMOCRATS won’t say if Robert Menendez should leave Senate if convicted in corruption case.

But they will demand that Judge Roy Moore be denied the Republican nomination for election to the Senate in the Alabama election to replace Jeff Sessions on the basis of 30-year-old allegations of sexual misconduct.

Hypocrites.
IS THERE NOTHING the Republicans can't screw up?
Republicans are likely to continue their legislative losing streak because they’re afraid to govern on the principles they were elected on out of fear of losing their offices. If they continue to fail to do so, voters will relieve them of that burden.
It will continue long as they remain e(stablishment)-Republicans. We must change that.
HEH: Local bakers sue Oberlin College for libel and slander.

Punching back twice as hard.
DEMOCRATS’ NRA/GOP-BASHING NARRATIVE collapses under weight of reality. But they continue because "demagoguing opponents with different views is the one-trick political pony on which they ride, and nothing’s going to make them dismount."
BECAUSE BOOBS: Men with cardiac arrest more likely than women to receive CPR in public.
WHAT HAPPENED while the mainstream media was out chasing squirrels.

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS for anti-gun freaks grieving over the death of their narrative.
SURPRISED? Screaming helplessly at the sky fails to remove President Trump from office.

Now they can go back to their safe spaces, crayons, Play-Do, and fluffy toy animals....
POWERLINE'S Week in Pictures is especially good this week. Here's my favorite:

Now you know why unicorns are extinct.

Go see the rest - and be sure to vote on your choice for America's first female President.
USA TODAY confirms why media and gun tutorials are a toxic mix.
IT'LL BE A LONG HARD SLOG: Undoing the dis-education of millennials.

It's not 'education'; it's indoctrination.
AUTUMN LEAVES, November 12:

Well, it looks like leaf-fall is complete. I'll keep going for another week or two, but what's left today is mostly evergreens, emply branches, and lots of future mulch. Here's the deck view this week:

It's cool and overcast today, so rather drab, and the winds and rain over the last week have pretty well cleared the trees of leaves. Now the driveway view:

It's much the same as last week, only more drab. The driveway was completely covered in leaves until I blew them off yesterday.

The pond view is slightly different from last week, taken higher up the hill because the stairs are pretty slippery with wet leaves.

There has been little change in color, and the leaves are much thicker on the ground than last week. Next week should be about the same, hopefully sunnier, though.
HEH: Are liberals making a case for mandatory church attendance?

I agree that it would probably be more effective than gun control.
RANDOM THOUGHT: America is still a 2-party political system. It's just that the parties are now Socialist (formerly Democrat) and Democrat (formerly Republican). There is no longer a conservative political party.

I'M OLD ENOUGH to remember when journalism thought Veteran's Day was important enough to cover. Today I tried to tune into the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which always occurs at 11:11 am on Nov. 11 every year.

This year I could find only Fox News and CSPAN (both cable channels) covering the event, from wreath-laying ceremony through Vice President Pence's speech afterward. Only CSPAN had continuous coverage. CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC? Absent.

To reuse President Trump's most pithy comment: sad.
