At what point does a protest movement become an excuse for camping? At what point is utopianism discredited by the seedy, dangerous, derelict fun fair it creates? At what point do the excesses of a movement become so prevalent that they can reasonably be called its essence? At what point do Democratic politicians need to repudiate a form of idealism that makes use of Molotov cocktails?Read it all.

AS RADICALISM CREEPS IN, credibility retreats:
JONAH GOLDBERG: Blame it on Brokaw. Not on Tom Brokaw himself, but on the mainstream media he so ably represented.
NEWT GINGRICH: Victory or Death. The video was produced only one year after the 2008 election and Newt accurately predicted the two following years.
FROM MY EMAIL:
The Montana Department of Employment, Division of Labor Standards claimed a small rancher was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an agent out to investigate him. This is supposed to be funny, but having followed the OWS protests for the last several weeks, I'm inclined to agree that any small business owner would have to be 'mentally challenged' to continue to put up with the insanity we laughingly call government.
GOV’T AGENT: “I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them.”
RANCHER: ”Well, there’s my hired hand who’s been with me for 3 years I pay him $200 a week plus free room and board. Then there’s the mentally challenged guy. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night so he can cope with life. He also sleeps with my wife occasionally.”
GOV’T AGENT: “That’s the guy I want to talk to - the mentally challenged one.”
RANCHER: “That would be me.”

BARACK'S CHRISTMAS PRESENT: a new 15-cent charge on all fresh Christmas trees to support a new Federal program to improve the image and marketing of Christmas trees. In other words, a tax to get you to buy something you have already bought.
So stupid it has already been recinded.

PAUL GREENBERG on why the Pro-Choice movement will lose in the end: "The trick is to speak of fetuses, not unborn children. So long as the victims are a faceless abstraction, anything can be done to them. Just don't look too closely at those sonograms."
