WHY I'M OK BEING A FORMER JPL'er: NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory laid off 900 workers due to budget cuts but hasn't fired its top DEI officer.
My tenure at JPL was in the mid-70's but even then the narcississtic elitism was evident.

2025 SPRING LEAVES, WEEK 5: Well, finally, spring is clearly underway.
Only two weeks ago (March 23) our forsythia was mostly yellow, with just a touch of green showing. This week it's full green and about doubled in width. It's not obvious yet in the picture but the trees in the background have begin to bud out.
Across the street though, the budding is evident. And along the fence we had a purple iris show up, and the drift roses along the fence line are appearing to wake up from the winter's nap -- no flowers yet, though.
Our pond view is pretty much the same with the exception that the tulip magnolia has dropped most of it's flowers and is now showing leaves -- lots of leaves. Ground cover (we call them weeds) have begun to pop through the leaf cover.
The view of the barn/fire pit area doesn't seem to have changed that much over the week. The tree tops (out of the picture) have begun to evidence budding, but that's about it.
Finally for this week, the pond and house from water's edge. Obviously not visible in the picture (yet), the trees have begun to show evidence of budding out, so by next week I expect the house to essentially disappear from view
Update: Here are two photos of our dogwood trees, the one on top taken yesterday; the one below it taken this morning. It's the same picture, taken from a slightly different perspective, showing how fast things are changing in April.
Until next week, then.

ANOTHER WIN FOR PROGRESSIVISM: Seattle mayor reveals $47 million payroll tax deficit as companies flee the Emerald City.
MORE ABOUT WHAT THE DOGEr'S found in their Social Security investigations.
In 2021, 270,000 non-citizens got social security numbers. In 2024, 2.1 million non-citizens got social security numbers. We went in to find fraud and found this....And it's not just about stealing Social Security benefits -- the Social Security number is a gateway into registering to vote, voting, Medicaid, long-term disability, and so on.
I WAS A CIA AGENT ... here's where the Ark of the Covenant is hidden.
Hint: The Ark of the Covenant was recovered from Nazi possession in 1936 and is now stored in a 'Top Secret' marked crate in a government warehouse somewhere in America.

TRUMP TURNS OFF THE MONEY MACHINE to Princeton University to stop their antisemitic ways.
As I've said before, turn off the money spigot and leave it off for at least a year after they've exhibited the desired changes. Let them use their own money ($34.1 billion endowment in 2024) to fund their (formerly government supported) programs in the meantime.

IT HURTS WHEN THE BOOMERANG COMES HOME TO REST: Brown University student accused of causing 'emotional harm' to non-faculty staff for sending DOGE-like email.
He should have sent it to the faculty as well....

SEN. JOHN KENNEDY [R-LA] tosses a monkey wrench at Federal District Courts trying to block the Trump administration (video here, thanks to Elon Musk).

From the comments, a 'should do' for the President:
Trump should simply write a letter to the SCOTUS, inform them of the practice, that it is unconstitutional, violates separation of powers, offends co-equality of the branches, and he will not recognize federal court jurisdiction to issue orders to the executive branch until they issue an opinion on the matter. That's more that former President Biden did when he ignored the law....
SEN. CORY BOOKER [D-NJ]: Gun ownership is a privilege and not a right.
A 'privilege' enjoyed by him and his aides. Hypocrite.
