POWERLINE'S Week in Pictures has posted. Here's my favorite:

But there are many others. Almost making the 'favorite' were Dianne Feinstein, Lindsey Graham, Me Too, It's Not Rape, Democrat Harassment, Corey Booker's face and the left-handed vice grips. Go see them all.
IS IT SATIRE, or is it real? Democrat Senators apologized to ‘all of those we surely molested during the past several decades, though we’re not aware of having done so.’

It's satire - Democrats never apologize.
BRAVO, PRESIDENT TRUMP: “We will never surrender America’s sovereignty to an unelected, unaccountable, global bureaucracy.” I would only add that we, the American people, will never surrender our sovereignty to an unelected, unaccountable, U.S. government bureaucracy.

Now go read it all.
POWERLINE: Some thoughts about liberal presumptions. You can take it to the bank that any (progressive) liberal presumptions about conservatives/Republicans are nothing more than projection of their own internal beliefs.

Here's an item from the comments that reflects my own opinion exactly:
I'm having difficulty imagining a treatment that can be considered "respectful" while the author (Brinkley) feels the need to ensure his innate (to him) belief in the superiority of leftism is defended. I readily admit I am nothing resembling respectful when I refer to leftists as idiots. But I am serious about it. It is the leftists' feeling of entitlement to always demand bipartisanship and acceptance of their definition of the term (at some point, and preferably sooner rather than later, accede to the leftist) that makes me loathe them so.

Not only do leftists lack a knowledge base about conservatism and familiarity with the people who practice it, they have no interest in the topic. Therefore, their work always reverts to criticism or condescension instead of an objective discussion of the merits. Why would I read a leftist's view on conservatism, a topic she is so thoroughly unqualified to write about except to point fingers at the "boogeyman"? I certainly wouldn't read a book about capitalism written by a lifelong Communist or anything written about guns by Michael Beschloss.

I had to laugh when I read the comment by MacLean in the postscript. She used "IMHO," which usually stands for "In My Humble Opinion." By the tone of the rest of her comment, she hasn't had a humble nanosecond in her life.
Exactly right.
MALLARD FILLMORE has a 'trigger warning' for readers.
NO SURPRISE: It looks like Maxine Waters's staff doxxed several GOP senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Maxine Waters is batshit crazy; there's no reason not to assume her staff is as well.
NEWT GINGRICH: Is there even one Democrat decent enough or disgusted enough to end this Kavanaugh travesty?

Quick answer: No. Even Diogenes would fail if he limited his search to Democrat politicians.

THE NRA FIGHTS BACK:

I just re-upped for another year's membership.
I JUST EMAILED Sen. Joe Manchin to encourage him to vote in favor of Brett Kavanaugh's elevation to the Supreme Court, and then this popped up online.

The fat lady just sung.

THE DEMOCRATS are digging new holes for moving the goalposts: Kavanaugh hearing once again in question as Christine Ford raises new concerns.

Next up: gay male comes forward to accuse Kavanaugh of not having sex with him....
SEXIST OR REALIST? Leaving a woman home alone with a smart phone and credit card has got to be the dumbest thing a man can do.

HOW 9/11 made a European upper-middle-class radical a conservative.
THE POLITICS of calculating hurricane deaths.

Since 'excess deaths' seems to be the new standard, I'd like to see that standard applied to hurricane Florence. For example, I'd like to see the 'excess death' calculation for Florence from say, a week before landfall to a week after landfall. My personal suspicion is that the deaths that didn't happen (murders, automobile accidents, etc.) because people left/stayed home/etc. exceed those that were directly related to the weather.

And then wait six months and repeat the experiment using exactly the same criteria that Lynn R. Goldman of the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University in her study of deaths in Puerto Rico due to hurricane Maria.
IT'S SUNDAY, and time for Installment II of Autumn Leaves 2018. Here are today's pictures.

The view from the deck hasn't changed much at all - the dead/dying trees are still dead/dying and the rest of the forest remains the same.

A narrower view of the fire pit this week, and as before not much has changed.

The house view is a slightly narrower view, taken from further down the pond path, but the foliage is little changed. I would like to get a picture from the opposite side, but the terrain along the southeast side of the house is so steep it's almost impossible to walk there. And any picture would have to be taken looking almost straight up....

Here's the dock view of the pond area, and there's finally a bit of evidence of Fall's arrival as the trees on the opposite side of the pond are just beginning to show signs of yellow. I suspect we won't see much color this year as the leaves seem to be green on the trees or brown on the ground. (And there are lots of them on the ground interfering with my efforts to build a new walkway around the carport.)

Finally, the view from the 'back side' of the pond. I've narrowed the field of view this week and moved further away from the pond so the bench is now visible. Our house is above and slightly left of the dock - and it is still completely invisible

Until next week....
HURRICANE FLORENCE CONTINUES TO PLAGUE THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA:

As you can probably guess, PowerLine's Week in Pictures has posted. While the media storm over Florence is my favorite, I have two others that ran a close second: hurricane-ready Detroit and the latest 'white power' symbol.

Check them all out.

AMMO GRRRLL is happy that Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) is batshit crazy. Here's why.
BECAUSE VIOLENCE AGAINST REPUBLICANS ISN'T REALLY VIOLENT VIOLENCE: Concerned Democrats aren't concerned about past sexual assaults by Democrats.
MAYBE IT WASN'T A METEOR STRIKE: the dinosaur extinction debate.

Very long, but quite readable.
NOW WE KNOW where the Weather Channel got the idea for its hurricane FLorence coverage.
