The National Zoo was still good when my mother came to see the pandas in 1998. Now, though ....

The Air & Space Museums (both) and the American History were both outstanding when we first started visiting, but by the time we finally left the metro area in 2015, both had degraded significantly -- okay if you looked at the exhibits and ignored the woke descriptive garbage. I hate to think of what they might be like today.

I'll probably never go back to see the museums again, but I can certainly hope that the Trump administration suceeds in removing the 'wokeness' and restoring the Smithsonian back to greatness.

Two reasons, I think. One, recess appointments last only through a single session of Congress (i.e., through 2026). The second is more important, to me at least, because the Republicans, still in charge of the Senate, can change the rules governing confirmations and those changes will last beyond the next legislative session.
