Some other dumbshits in his diatribe about the State of Georgia's updated gun control law:
The creativity of the National Rifle Association and other organizations devoted to establishing conditions in which every man, woman and child in our nation will have to be armed is awe-inspiring.Oh, come now. Every man, woman, and child will have to be armed? Well ... on second thought, I'd trust my (properly trained) granddaughter before I'd trust a sniveling coward afraid of his own shadow.
Georgia’s ... new law allows people to carry guns in their houses of worship. True, congregations can set their own rules, but some pastors wonder about the confusion this provision will create, and those who would keep their sanctuaries gun-free may worry about being branded as liberal elitists.Oh, poor baby; he's worried about being branded a 'liberal elitist'. Concealed carry holders are among the most lawful (we get permits to carry) of citizens; those who go to 'gun free' zones to shoot 'liberal elitists' are the deranged, not legally-permitted concealed-carry holders.
You will also be able to tote weapons into bars and their parking facilities if the bar grants you permission. I can’t wait to see the next beer ad depicting a gunfight over who pays for the next round.Your next-door state of Virginia has permitted concealed-carry holders in bars and restaurants for several years now. I am confident that any bar fight involving concealed-carry holders would have been front-page news in your newspaper, so check the Washington Post's archives and get back to me.
Georgia thinks you should be able to take guns into government buildings that don’t have screening devices or security guards. Second Amendment enthusiasts tend not to like tax increases, but as the Associated Press reported, the city of Vienna, Ga., (pop. 3,841) would have to shell out about $60,000 a year to increase security at city buildings [presumably by increasing taxes].Hmm. I rather suspect that many, if not most, employees at government buildings that don't have screening devices or security guards would welcome the added security that a permit holder affords. At least that's what the police officer who conducted my concealed-carry training class told me.
Oh yes, and while conservatives claim to hate the centralization of power, this law wipes out a series of local gun regulations. The gun supremacists just don’t trust those pesky local elected officials.Wrong. The changes were made to assure law-abiding concealed-carry holders that the laws are consistent throughout the state.
And law and order goes out the window. As Niraj Chokshi noted in The Post, this statute gets rid of state requirements that firearms dealers maintain records of sales and purchases. Databases on license holders that span multiple jurisdictions are banned. Those who commit gun crimes must be chuckling, “Can you find me now?”Huh? State requirements, E.J., not federal requirements, which are still in force. And as for those 'who commit gun crimes', what makes you think they all buy their weapons legally from a licensed firearms dealer?
Now it's my turn. How many of those 20 children and 6 adults killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School might be alive today if there had been even one concealed-carry weapons holder in the building?
