THE BRAVE NEW WORLD of the smart grid.

Overblown, but not necessarily inaccurate. Overblown, as existing smart technology only measures gross power consumption and would possibly affect your electricity bill if a variable rate structure was in effect. Not necessarily inaccurate, however, as control of 'smart appliances' is clearly in regulators' sight. As far as privacy goes, yes, there's room to worry if your power consumption consistently differs from that of your neighbors.

Reason enough to be increasingly wary of the power of big government.
BLINK? Or bluff? With a new 'Dear Leader' I can hope for 'blink' but I'd bet on 'bluff'.
PROHIBITION: Good or bad? The evidence is mounting that prohibition simply makes a bad thing worse.
WHEN GOVERNMENT BECOMES TOO POWERFUL: Power Struggle Over Indian Tribe Splinters Into Violence in California. Would this have happened if the government hadn't granted Indians Native Americans the right to build casinos on tribal lands?
GOOD: How to survive a school shooting. Better: Shoot back. Best: Shoot first.
WORDS FAIL: Ethicists Argue in Favor of 'After-Birth Abortions' as Newborns 'Are Not Persons'. If 'after-birth' abortions become legal, I know exactly where to start.
