ANDREW KLAVAN: The narrative vs. the reality.
For the left to accept that the precepts of Islam may not be reconcilable with western values would be for them to accept that multi-culturalism is wrong, that the moral relativism that underpins multi-culturalism is wrong, that the values of the west, which they have disparaged so long, are not, in fact, values at all but morals — the human expression of an objective moral order — and that that moral order was discovered in the west through the grace of (eek!) a religion not to be named, and that that religion comes closer to the moral truth than Islam and indeed maybe closer to the moral truth than any other religion, which in turn raises the possibility that that religion (not to be named) is actually a true religion...
Too bitter a pill for the Left to swallow.
