SOYLENT GREEN is made out of . . . the One Percent?
BUT, BUT ... I'm a member of the (entitled) ruling class.
RANDOM THOUGHTS from the retirement lane: welfare is akin to not clearing the deadwood from a forest; all it does is make a future fire much worse.
MISSILE DEFENSE: Pentagon Test Czar Sees Possible Need for Interceptor Component Redesign.

Hmm. Back when I was still working (and that was several years ago), I was involved in some analyses of GMD (Ground Missile Defense) performance. Apparently the problems we looked at have yet to be solved.
BINGO! You say, “mired in squalor and dependency.” They say, “reliable Democratic voters.”
OBAMA: You ain't seen nuthin' yet. Just the barest outlines of Obama's autocracy.
JEFF JACOBY: The Bay State's model of health care 'reform' ... wait.
THE BENEFIT of testosterone. And now we learn that testosterone may increase the risk of heart attack.

Double whammy....
THE CORNER: Red Tape and Oil Explosions.
MORNING EXAMINER: Big Green lawyers have hijacked the Endangered Species Act.
PROGRESSIVISM KILLS: Detroit is not healthy for children and other living things.
HERE'S ONE THAT ESCAPED ME INITIALLY: the Republican alternative to ObamaCare. It's not perfect, obviously, but compared to ObamaCare....

The legislative proposal is here.
WATCHDOG: Federal employee unions use tax-funded official time, money to build political muscle.
GROW YOUR OWN SPACECRAFT: Could future spaceships be built with artificial 'bone'?
BUSINESS MATH: Robots or the minimum wage?

Liberals should beware. Robots don't vote, but their owners, those Evil Capitalists, do.
HOT AIR: How about legalization without citizenship for illegals? Hot Air poo-poos the idea, but I'm intrigued, and so is Roger Simon. Here's the idea: grant them permanent residency, but bar them forever from full citizenship (i.e., the right to vote) unless they return to their native country and wait in line as part of the normal immigration process.

It's essentially a grant of amnesty, which the Democrats so badly want, without adding to the ranks of Democrat voters, which the Republicans so badly want. What's not to like?
HEH: The LinkedIn TECHEXPO hiring events group has a job opening for a 'Cloud Developer'. If it were a 'rain cloud developer' I might be interested.
SENATE CANDIDATE suggests moving our federal capital from Washington. I'm generally supportive of the idea, but I wouldn't wish D.C. on the citizens of Nebraska.

Instead I'd recommend an idea based on the Neal Stephenson novel Snow Crash, where the nuclear carrier U.S.S. Enterprise has been purchased by a media magnate after the United States government collapsed and serves as his base of operations and the center of a floating city in the Pacific known as "The Raft".

Recommission and refuel the Enterprise (yes, I know it's too late, but the thought survives) and move it 800 miles to sea. Let it hold the White House, Congress, the Supreme Court, a few of their retainers and allow it to dock only for a 30-day period ending on election day every two years.

Government of the people, by the people, and for away from the people.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention a potential added benefit ... Washington D.C. can be turned into a nature preserve (or a National Zoo).
RANDOM THOUGHTS from the retirement lane: 'Social justice' demands that everyone get a crappy return on investment lest someone, through skill or pure dumb luck, gets ahead.
IS THE 'STUPID BOWL' NEARLY OVER? More hope than change.
COMMENT OF THE DAY: "That's how the civil rights movement turned into the snivel rights movement."

The Seinfeld post is here.
