THE FIRE AND BRIMSTONE WORLD of Texas school propaganda.

The Texas State Board of Education has always been contentious because of its influence in the textbook market, but this is relatively new.
FROM THE SANCTIMONIOUS TO THE RIDICULOUS. Victor Davis Hanson reflects on “Gorism” - the malady of living not merely at odds with your zealotry, but living entirely against your zealotry: “I think I prefer an up-front profiteer to Al Gore’s sermons from Montecito.”
KNOW YOUR PLACE: there’s no snob like a leftist snob.
SMART ALECK IN CHIEF. Why is the 44th president of the United States bad-mouthing Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, bankers, mine operators, insurers, Glenn Beck, the tea party, the Supreme Court, and now British Petroleum (BP)? Among other reasons, it’s what Barack Obama likes to do.

And it’s conduct unbecoming a president.

MORE: Breaking with presidential punch line tradition for the second consecutive year, Obama dropped zinger after zinger on his opponents and allies alike at the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner. And except for a mild joke pegged to his falling approval ratings, Obama mostly spared Obama.

With Obama, it’s not about humor; it’s about getting even.
IT SOUNDED LIKE A GREAT IDEA: Stanford education professors would create a model school to show how to educate low-income Hispanic and black students.
Or, as it’s turned out, how not to.

In March, Stanford New Schools (aka East Palo Alto Academy) — a charter high school started in 2001 and elementary grades added in 2006 – made California’s list of schools in the lowest-achieving five percent in the state.
How could that happen? It’s Stanford University. The teachers are well-trained, use state-of-the-art progressive teaching methods, and stress social and emotional support over academics.

“Support over academics” ... surely that’s not the problem. Or is it?
“SMART GRID” IS THE POLITICALLY CORRECT EUPHEMISM for a 'smart' electric power grid, which, when completed, will employ real-time, two-way digital data transmission between the energy supplier and the consumer’s appliances. According to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which is writing the draft standards for the smart grid, "The system would allow consumers to better manage and control their energy use and costs, reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil and create clean-energy jobs.”

That statement is just a bit disingenuous. In its initial stage, the smart grid may actually work as promised, by permitting demand pricing and allowing energy producers to better manage their spinning reserves.

We'll know the smart grid can deliver when in at least one situation in the United States, however restricted geographically or functionally, interactive communications have helped consumers reduce their energy use and cut their electricity bills. When will that be?
Probably not soon. Anyone with even an ounce of grey matter between the ears knows that’s the wrong question; the whole point of the smart grid is to reduce energy growth by controlling consumer energy consumption.

And that’s frightening.
GREEN HYPOCRISY: Call them “NIMBLYs” - Not In My Back (Liberal) Yard.

The hallmark of modern American liberalism is that there is no limit to the amount of other people’s money they are willing to spend in the fight to do good; and there is no inconvenience so great that they won’t foist it on everyone else in the cause of social justice.
Still more from the Left coast.
AWW, DID THE POOR BABIES get their little feelings hurt?

Harvard Law takes a well deserved beating.

And the thoughtful, nuanced liberals at Gawker continue to fling feces and scream “racist!”
OBAMA TO ENTREPENEURS: You’re chumps.
O-TEAM RESPONDERS throw drowning BP an anvil.

Think about it: this is the team crewing your lifeboat.
WHO’S TO BLAME WHEN A BLACK MAN RAPES A WOMAN? Would it be the rapist? Not according to many liberals - including the woman who was raped:

Black men have every right to the anger they feel in response to their position in the global hierarchy, but their anger is misdirected.... Women are not the source of their oppression; oppressive policies and the as-yet unaddressed white patriarchy which still dominates the global stage are. [emphasis mine].
Melissa Clouthier responds: “How is it possible, after being the victim of a brutal rape, to absolve the perpetrator of guilt and point the finger at men of another color .... Forget collective guilt. It is a collective shame that this sort of thinking permeates liberal thought. This belief in action will utterly destroy society should it go unchallenged.”
